Julia graduated with a Bachelor in Science (Occupational Therapy) (Hons) in 2014 with First Class Honours. Julia joined the AIM OT team as a part-time member in August 2017. Since graduating, Julia took up a postgraduate research project aiming towards designing an emotion recognition intervention for adults on the autism spectrum.
In her previous role, Julia worked part- time as a school-based therapist for children who are in risk or in crisis, many with conditions
such as developmental delays, anxiety, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Undertaking postgraduate research and working as a therapist has grown her passion for a strength-based approach to therapy. She enjoys meeting children, their families and support networks to discover their interests and work collaboratively with them to achieve their meaningful occupational goals.
She has experience administering occupational therapy assessments and interventions in areas of fine and gross motor development, handwriting, social skills, emotional regulation, visual perceptual skills and sensory processing. Julia is dedicated to ongoing professional development and has completed several courses such as Therapeutic Crisis Intervention, BEST4Kids Highway Heroes Social Emotional Program, and a sensory processing course Traffic Jam in my Brain by Genevieve Jereb. She is a member of Developmental Occupational Therapy WA and is AHPRA registered.
When not working, Julia enjoys watching movies and discovering new cafes around Perth with friends and family members. She looks forward to meeting and working with your child and family.
