Indiana Nel
Indi has a Bachelor of Psychology degree minoring in children and family studies, which she completed at Edith Cowan University. She has gained her Core endorsement as a Behaviour Support Practitioner and is working towards achieving her Proficient endorsement through training and development.
Indi believes that behaviour is a form of communication and is passionate about supporting families and their child understand the why behind the action. She has previous experience in diverse educational settings and has worked with a wide range of individuals all having a different story to share. Throughout this time, she has worked with children from many backgrounds, including those with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder, Global Development Delay, Intellectual Disability, Sensory Processing challenges, Anxiety, Depression, Impaired hearing, non-verbal, and Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) profiles. Indi has supported families to implement behaviour support strategies for their child to reduce the occurrence of various behaviours that pose risk, these included, physical and verbal aggression, sexualised behaviour, wandering, harm to self, consumption of non-food items, property damage and school refusal. Indi is determined to work collaboratively with families, and their key supports to achieve meaningful outcomes for their child.
In her spare time, Indi enjoys trying new restaurants, going for coastal walks and spending time with her family and friends.
