Shelley

Shelley holds a Master of Professional Psychology from Curtin University. She has experience in psychotherapy, group therapy, psychological assessment, and intervention and is passionate about supporting children, adolescents and their families.

Shelley is particularly interested in supporting children with emotional regulation, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, confidence and social challenges, as well as neurodivergent children and young people.

She takes a neuro-affirming, client-centred, and strengths-based approach, recognising that every child is unique, with their own strengths, experiences and way of understanding the world. Shelley takes the time to understand each child’s individual perspective and strives to see the world through their eyes, creating a therapeutic approach that feels welcoming, safe, meaningful and responsive to them.
Shelley draws on evidence-based approaches including, but not limited to:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
  • Emotion-Focused Therapy
  • Dialectical Behaviour Therapy
  • Mindfulness and grounding techniques
  • Play-based and creative therapeutic approaches
  • Psychoeducation
  • Parent and family support

Each approach is adapted to suit each family and their individual goals.
Shelley also offers the following assessments:

  • Autism Screeners
  • ADHD Screeners
  • Memory Assessments
  • Cognitive Assessments

Shelley values working collaboratively with families to understand their individual circumstances and provide practical recommendations that can be incorporated into everyday life.

In her spare time, Shelley enjoys keeping up with psychology research and professional development, learning to knit, attempting to paint and sketch (with enthusiasm rather than skill!), and spending time with family and friends. She also loves spending time with her very fluffy cat, Honey, who keeps her vacuum cleaner busy!

Shelley looks forward to working alongside you and your child to help them build confidence, recognise their strengths, and work towards their goals
